Hands Off Spring Creek Valley

The developers want to get their hands on Spring Creek to build more and more houses. In doing so destroying a unique ecosystem that supports remnant yellow gum woodland and threatened flora and fauna species.

Surfcoast, we want you to say, “hands off Spring Creek.” Together we can lock the developers out, stop approval of housing and protect Spring Creek for good.

What can I do?

If you are against residential development west of Duffields Road you must make your voice heard on the draft Statement of Planning Policy website.

Since 2008 our community has been a powerful voice, protecting Spring Creek Valley west of Duffields Road.

Community attend the Save Spring Creek Red Rally in 6th Nov 2018.

What happens next?

The state government Department of Energy, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is currently finalising a new Statement of Planning Policy, Distinctive Area Landscape (DAL) plan.

The Distinctive Area Landscape Planning (DAL) Scheme, once enforced, has the legislative authority to create a permanent town boundary at Duffields Road.

The Spring Creek valley’s flora and fauna will be saved and in the future the return of Endangered species is a real possibility.

“Spring Creek Valley is at the heart of the Torquay community, linking Bellbrae and Jan Juc to Torquay’s beloved surf beach. Strong community action now will see the valley saved for good.”

“We made commitments and those commitments will be honoured in full. Duffields Road is the boundary, not one foot further. I can’t be any clearer than that – that will be the town boundary, there will be no development beyond that,”.

— Victorian Premier, Hon Daniel Andrews March 20, 2019
